Nobody Dozen Better
MAYBERRY, NC--Cole Ford can think of twelve reasons his team should be favored to win the Bucco Bruce Bowl, which is more than any other team can say. Or at least more than anyone ever has had to say.

"The word 'history' gets thrown around a lot in situations like this," Ford choked, partially on tears and partially on the rudimentary stitches that hold his once decapitated head to his neck. "It's hard to see history when you're living it, but when you get a chance to look back, it's really

overwhelming."

Ford took extra pleasure in Sunday's win, beating both the defending BFL champs and his former team. Wrapping up their league record eleventh straight win made the Woolfs the first team in BFL history to win twelve games. The Woodchuck and Mennonites had each posted 11-2 seasons in 1997 and '99 respectively, but Ford was happiest about getting some retribution in the same town where he was decapitated at the 1997 Pickle Festival.

Some coaches might encourage players to remain focused on the post-season and not reflect on current accomplishments and accolades, but Ford has adopted a different attitude. Knowing his team has a bye week, Ford has encouraged them to take the next week and relish the success. "We worked too damn hard to get this bouquet not to smell the roses."

Some Woolfs may opt to miss a day or two in the workout room, but some will not be able to avoid the heavy lifting. Ford, owner Rick Lord, and running back Ahman Green are all expected to receive awards based on the historical season.
